Today is the 5th anniversary of the first song officially recorded under the name MARS which stands for Michael Aaron Reyes Songs.
Several to be MARS songs were written in March, April, & June of 2003 and Minds 1-14 contained resamplings of some tracks on Piemerican Disc (from 2002).
The song Mind 7 from Minds 1-14 was the first song officially recorded to harddisk under the MARS name. I recorded it live from playing on my keyboard. I worked the song out but then ran into trouble of forgetting how to record properly on my computer to where plugged the keyboard into the computer then plugged the line out to the line in making it so I couldn't hear myself play. I ended up playing it with the wrong soundbank but I stuck with the recording anyway and mixed it up a bit.
This is also why the songs on Minds 1-14 had dead air. In the case of those songs I used programs on the computer to make the music live where I could hear myself but with the jacks rerouted it caused dead air on the tracks which I think gives it a unique feel among other electronic records which are usually chrisp and clean.
I also recorded cORNERED Placement, a remix of cP from Piemerican Disc & Death which was complete from June but not yet put to wav as it had appeared as a midi in my game Greedy Ghost.

Mind 7 is a solo piano track by MARS. After a shaky tremolo, it leaves you hanging on a faint swishing sound only to let you know a few seconds later...THE PIANO'S STILL THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cORNERED Placement is a haunted house tune, supposedly a remix of cP from the Piemerican Disc. Brings back memories of Mario haunted houses, that it does.
Death wouldn't feel completely stupid if it lived on a Turok soundtrack, even with it's blinking light piano sound at the beginning.
Mind 7 later went on to be remade for the MARS 1 year Anniversary ep Dismemories.

I finally took the time to download the drivers for my scanner. So now Piemerica, as I planned, has bits of the original Pie Comic which Pie Inc. was founded in. I did alter it for typed text & just the drawings are online not my handwriting. So the 6 year celebration is perfect & Piemerica is greater than ever except for exposure maybe. I realized this shortly earlier. Piemerica is at its pinnacle not just b/c of the past. Massive updates to the site & such things have propelled Piemerica to even out due in volume the daily updates of 2003. In 2003 I demanded of myself that the updates contained completely original material specificly written for that day each & every day. Now however most everything is focused on bringing the past into the light rather than doing something new. Daily Updates of last year were meant to do both serving new & old. The new was a higher demand & although much was done the old was not done its justice. Now the old is getting its justice. I hope this doesn't mean that I have lost my special quality of creating original things as I have feared.
November-January with the music & January & February with the websites Piemerica is enourmous & flooded with content. The downside is that very few people care about any of it. I am aware that various people visit the site everyday but I have no contact with them. The reasons updates stopped last year was lack of interest from others. I would love to continue updates after I complete the past with things such as comics & === lyrics but once those are finished it is unsure what I would do. There has been much more work than creativity in Feb. for Piemerica.
The brightest of all is that I have actually been doing everything I dream of doing with the site. I finished typing all of the journals, I am adding the first & other comics to the site. I have been doing the daily updates to it as well for 12 consecutive days listed & certainly some inbetween that weren't listed.
Now the rose turns blue, remembering years of many but soon to be few.
Six years ago today Pie Inc. was braught to the public & this is considered the biggest moment in Piemerican History. There have certainly been greater things but many could not exist without it.
2002 was the year of beginings in Piemerica. 2003 continued many things in 2002 & added some new ones. Now in early 2004 it looks very possible to top 2003 & 2002. But how can 2004 be a year of beginings like 2002 when I have done it all. All I can do is innovate further in areas I have already been involved in which is good but somewhat tiresome. I am not concerned with new things at the moment b/c this is the Pie Inc. stretch where the past is the focus. It would be nice to find a way to bring (The Joe) Legend back, he was a fun kid & always did well. |
